Congratulations to Coco's Clowns who are the 2024 Larne League 3 A Sides Champions. In Finals Night the eight remaining teams played to a finish in the Q. Club on Thursday 18th April and when the last black of the competition was potted it was Gerry McCorry's Team who took the title, their third on the trot. And they definitely done it in style destroying all before them 5-0, 5-0 and 5-0.

BIG BRIAN 2024 LARNE LEAGUE INDIVIDUAL CHAMPION

It's big congratulations to Brian Crilly. The Q.Stars player is our new Larne Pool League Individual Champion after a fantastic day of play in the Q.Club. Brian adds his name to a list of top players to claim the coveted trophy and makes it a season double as he also won the prestigious Richard Bowen Memorial Individual. The big man was barely troubled until the Final but what a match 2002 Winner Shaun McAlister gave him, Shaun led 6-3 with four to play and was odds on to become winner once again but Brian never gives up and he dug very deep to reel off the final four frames and ran out 7-6 winner.

LEWIS & ROLSTON DOUBLE DELIGHT !!

It’s a big congratulations to Aaron Rolston and Wayne Lewis who have become the 2024 Larne Pool League Doubles winners after a fine evening of Blackball Pool in the Q Club.

From an initial 50 entries the finals night started with 16 teams left and a strong field of potential winners. Highlight of the night being perhaps the last 16 match between eventual winners Lewis/Rolston who overcame Gerry McCorry and Johnny Nelson 4-3 in a match that saw 6x 8-Ball clearances. Strong showings were also seen from the young duo of Jack Carson/Ryan Scott who reached the semi finals and Nick McClay/Darren Witherspoon who reached the Quarters.

BIG BILL IS SENIORS CHAMPION

Congratulations to Bill McIlroy Sr on becoming this season Over 40s Individual Champion. From a field of 25 the Q.Club Seniors player stormed to victory defeating Warriors' Aaron Leslie in the Final by 7-5. Another great achievement for Bill who in his 60th year is still adding trophy after trophy to his huge collection from down the years.

RICHARD BOWEN MEMORIAL INDIVIDUAL

What a fantastic day in the Q.Club yesterday as we remembered former League stalwart Richard Bowen in his annual Memorial event. 49 Larne League and local cueists took to the grey baize and when the final black of the day was potted we had a new name on the trophy in Q.Stars player Brian Crilly. The big man ousted last years winner Dean McDonagh 6-5 in a fantastic Final. Brian came through no less than four last frame deciders to show his bottle, he had also came back from 0-4 down to win 5-4 agaist Ryan McKillop in the Quarter Final. In his Semi Final and Final he reverse dished in the two deciders.

OUR CONDOLENCES

The Committee of Larne & District Pool League would like to pass on our condolences to Clonlee player Brendan Wilkinson and his family after the peaceful home passing of his father Benny (Brendan).

Benny's funeral will take place on Wednesday 31st January 2024 in St MacNissi's Church, Larne at 12.00 noon with burial afterwards in Larne Cemetery.

Just to let you know Brendan you are in our thoughts at this sad time.
